What are regulated activities?

As a healthcare provider, if you provide what is known as a 'regulated activity', you will require to register with the Care Quality Commission under the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.

 

For the purposes of CQC registration, there are 15 regulated activities which include the following:

 

1.    Personal care

 

2.    Accommodation with nursing or personal care

 

3.    Accommodation for persons who require treatment for substance misuse

 

4.    Accommodation and nursing or personal care in the further education sector

 

5.    Treatment of disease, disorder or injury 

 

6.    Assessment or medical treatment for persons detained under the Mental Health Act 1983

 

7.    Surgical procedures

 

8.    Diagnostic and screening procedures

 

9.    Management of supply of blood and blood-derived products

 

10. Transport services, triage and medical advice provided remotely

 

11. Maternity and midwifery services

 

12. Termination of pregnancies

 

13. Services in slimming clinics

 

14. Nursing care, and

 

15. Family planning services.

 

Please remember that if you are a healthcare professional, it is a serious offence to carry out a regulated activity without first being registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
